Aran is a recent graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Communications receiving a MC in Digital Media and Storytelling. She is now focusing her work in film production specifically in Directing and Producing. Currently she is working in film/video production in the Chicago area. Most recently her directorial debut student film ‘Be Mime’
During her two years at LUC Aran had the opportunity to work with amazing artists and was part of some wonderful films. This includes her film directorial debut of ‘Be Mime’, she also Produced and Directed the film ‘Exit Interview’ and was the Art Director for the another short film, ‘Transmigration’.
Aran was born in Bloomington Indiana, but spent most of her young life in Central Ohio. While there she found a passion for the theatre and with her highly organized nature was asked to work backstage as a Stage Manager and Assistant Director while in High School. She attended Otterbein University as a BA in the Department of Theatre and Dance with a focus in directing. While in undergrad Aran was the ASM for two main stage productions, Stage Managed another, and was an Assistant Director for her last show. This is was on-top of her work as a student director; having directing both a short and full length production. Aran also took a study abroad course in London called ‘Theatre in London’ through NYU Tisch over the summer of 2005. She also interned at the Flea Theatre in NYC for a semester. Aran was a member of the honors program and graduated with Honors, Cum Laude.
After graduation Aran continued to work in the theatre community within Central Ohio. She worked with companies like Blue Forms, Available Light, MadLab Theatre, OGP Productions, Shepard Productions and the Columbus Civic Theatre to name a few. With these semi professional theatre companies she got the opportunity to continue her work in Stage Managing, Acting and Directing. She also took to writing ten minutes plays and have several produced at both MadLab and OGP.
Aran started to get interested in film when she, along with Chris Morris, Stephen Woosley and Angela Cutrell, created the web comedy series ‘The Minion’. While working on the five episode series Aran was involved in Directing, Acting, Producing and Writing. Working as the point person for distribution and marketing on the project lead her to become interested in furthering her education in the area of digital media and film. In 2015 Aran began work for her Masters Degree in Digital Media and Storytelling at Loyola University Chicago.
